Is DEVIL's WALKING STICK the same as Toothache Tree? Despite the common name confusion, I’m saying NO. It’s important to be able to distinguish these two. I write about Devil’s Walking Stick (Aralia spinosa) and other lookalikes for Toothache Tree (Zanthoxylum clava-herculis) in my complete downloadable winter profile PDF for Toothache Tree. It and all the other winter tree profiles I have made are available on my Patreon! (Link in bio) #devilswalkingstick #araliaspinosa #toothachetree #zanthoxy

Does Toothache Tree have a toxic lookalike? Yes, I would say so. My downloadable guide for Toothache Tree is available amongst many others on my Patreon! (Link in my bio) Talking about lookalikes is always nuanced. What I think looks like something may not be what you think. Here in Texas we have at least three tickle-tongue aka toothache tree aka Hercules Club aka prickly ash: Zanthoxylum clava-herculis, Zanthoxylum hirsutum, and Zanthoxylum fagara. The berry husks of all of them can be used as “Sichuan Peppercorns” which, when mixed with a Texas hot sauces, makes interesting East-Meets-West Sichuan sauces. The numbing effect of the seed husks combined with the hot peppers turns into something unique. I usually start with 1/4 teaspoon of dried, ground husks in 9oz

The Toothache Tree: Nature’s Roadside Painkiller 🌿 Out on the road or deep in the woods, you might pass by this thorny little tree without giving it a second thought. But the Toothache Tree (Zanthoxylum) has been used for generations as a natural numbing agent and folk medicine. ✅ Chew a bit of bark or leaf, and it numbs tooth and gum pain. ⚠️ Use with caution --> overuse can be harmful, and it’s not safe for pregnant women or children. 💡 Beyond dental relief, it’s been used for inflammation,

Watch what happens when I put this tree IN MY MOUTH! I’ve spent the last couple of weeks conducting various experiments with the tree, including making infusion and external preparations with it to varying degrees of success. I found the strongest way to use it was just chewing the bark straight after it had been dried. Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the tingling sensation with an external application! The species in the video is Toothache Tree (Zanthoxylum clava-herculis), but other m
