The ocean surface-measuring Jason-3 satellite is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket this Sunday at 10:42 a.m. PST. Jason-3 will continue the satellite altimetry observations of global sea surface height that began in 1992 with the TOPEX/Poseidon mission. It follows the Ocean Surface Topography Mission on the current operational altimeter satellite, Jason-2.
