Syrian army and Kurdish-led forces trade blame for the deadly clashes, which came after SDF-gov't talks in Damascus.

Turkey's military is ready to "support" Syria in its battle with Kurdish fighters in the northwestern city of Aleppo if Damascus asks for help, a defence ministry official said Thursday.

Syria's government on Wednesday demanded that Kurdish fighters leave the neighbourhoods they control in Aleppo following clashes between the two sides which saw thousands of civilians flee.

According to Syrian media reports, shots were fired towards internal security forces in the area. The number of casualties remains unclear. At least three people have been reported killed and as many as 60 others wounded during protests that turned violent in several cities.

The talks, in Paris, are the latest bid to reduce tensions between two longtime enemies. A deal would help both curry favor with the Trump administration.
