A storm system that started the day as an upper-level low off the Florida coast in the Gulf of America is now Invest 91L and being watched by the National Hurricane Center.
July 19 (Reuters) - An area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico and near Florida continues to be better defined and has an 80% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in an advisory on Sunday.
It's been all quiet in the tropics until today when the National Hurricane Center noted two areas with chances of development.
The National Hurricane Center said on Friday that there was a low chance of a tropical depression developing in the Gulf in the next few days. Forecasters expect an area of low pressure to form this weekend over the northeastern Gulf.
